You can use Alt-Tab keystroke to cycle through your currently running programs. The problem is that you only see the program's icon and if you are running several instances of a given program you can't tell which one is which unless you install the Alt-Tab Replacement from Microsoft Power Toys for Windows XP website. This Power Toy lets you see the preview of the program window as well as the icon when you cycle through using Alt-Tab.
