what a great profile of emmitt! i think we need more rolemodels so openly professing and teaching us through their example of how life is a series of opportunities to reinvent ourselves--whether those junctions be chosen by us or for us. as emmitt is demonstrating, the journey is all about adapting to the changes, thriving in a new environment of opportunity, and succeeding with what we've learned and our own desire and motivation to become a success in the terms that we define success.

emmitt is successful because he has given himself no other option to become successful.

bravo, emmitt! now, as a sidenote, i'm not sure how much i enjoy people talking about "second acts" and "longevity" with someone only two years older than me. i guess i associate those words with people far closer to the traditional age of retirement... but that story just made me feel old when i found out he was born in '69...
