Today I was dancing on the stage of Donnell Library auditorium. Julia asked me to be her partner for the show called "The Tale Of The Caribbean Rose - An Evening Of Spanish/Arabic Fusion and Middle Eastern Dance". This was a very last minute thing - she told me about it two days before the show. We only had couple of hours to practice and just did an on-spur-of-a-moment dance with couple of key accents here and there.
The program consisted of various performances that demonstrated the history of Spanish and Arabic dances. Before each number of the show the narrator explained the history the dance about to be performed. I was the only male performer in the show. Julia and I did a cha cha to a song sung in Arabic, therefore our number was called "Cha Cha Arabe". In the background we had two exotic dancers with vails. Julia and I appeared on the stage twice during the performance of the two girls. The video on this page is edited to only show the sections when Julia and I are dancing. The entire video is available here. At the end of the show we did a nice photo shoot behind the curtains. |
